In Canada, licensed producers of cannabis are companies who have a license to either grow and/or sell legal medical cannabis. For some, this license will soon cover recreational use too. These producers are approved by the federal department for public health, Health Canada. There are many licensed producers across the provinces, so you need to know how to find a trustworthy producer or dispenser.

7 Acres

7 Acres grows medical cannabis in a first-of-its-kind seven-acre greenhouse. They grow with passion, love for their product, and a little help from the sun. Owned by the cannabis company, Supreme, 7 Acres is licensed to produce cannabis since 2016. Based in Kincardine, Ontario, 7 Acres have a 340,000 square foot cultivation facility that grows indoor quality buds, outside, using state-of-the-art technology.

ABcann Medicinals

ABcann Medicinals take pride in offering 100 percent pesticide-free cannabis at fair prices. ABCann Global Incorporated was founded in Napanee, Ontario in 2014 and has since become a serious player in the Canadian market. They’re aiming for global expansion. ABCann offers whole flower and milled bud and intends to expand into oils and other products in the future. The CEO, Barry Fishman, announced not long ago that they will be acquiring BC’s first licensed producer, Canna Farms Limited. In the same announcement, he also said the company is changing their name from ABCann to VIVO Cannabis™.

Aphria

Aphria is a big player among licensed Canadian cannabis producers. Founded by Cole Cacciavillani and John Cervini in Ontario in 2014, the company has since grown very large, buying up several smaller brands and expanding internationally. The company also recently made a distribution deal with one of the biggest wine and spirits corporations in the U.S., Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits. This will allow them to distribute their recreational products throughout Canada. Aphria offers cannabis capsules, oils, and vaporizer cartridges.

Aurora Cannabis Inc.

Aurora is another very big licensed producer of cannabis. Aurora was founded in 2013 by Terry Booth, Steve Dobler, Chris Mayerson, and Dale Lesack, and is based in Edmonton, Alberta.

Aurora has worked to develop an international presence after buying out a few different smaller cannabis businesses, including Pedanios Gmbh in Germany and MedReleaf in Canada. Aurora is licensed to produce up to 150,000 kilograms of cannabis a year at five different cultivation sites around the world.

Broken Coast Cannabis

Broken Coast Cannabis is based on the British Columbian west coast and makes sure to offer good value flat rate shipping prices and custom genetics to their customers. A fear years ago, 75% of Canda’s Island Garden was bought by an American tobacco company, Alliance One International Inc.

Canna Farms Ltd.

Canna Farms was the first producer in British Columbia to be granted an ACMPR license, and since then they have grown into a dedicated and talented team of people that work hard to make sure they give their patients exceptional cannabis products at a price they can afford.
