One thing that stops many people from experiencing the plethora of benefits that cannabis can bring about is the fact that they do not truly understand it. The rules around what is legal and what is not can be complicated. However, here at ARCannabis, we only stock products that are legal, licensed and safe, so that you can get all the benefits without the worry.
One of the terms associated with cannabis that many people do not understand is THC. THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol and is one of more than 400 compounds found in the plant. Essentially, THC is what is going to get you high. You may be looking at our range of cannabis products and asking ‘well, how much THC is there in a gram of weed?’. It can be a complex answer, but let us take a brief look into it.
Why do you need to know how much THC in a gram of weed?
As with anything – caffeine, alcohol, sugar, even food – too much THC is going to make you feel more than a little uncomfortable. It is referred to as overdosing, although there is as yet no recorded deaths due to overdoing the cannabis. The chances are if you take too much you are going to be VERY chilled out – as in, fall asleep chilled out – or you are going to experience some freaky, and none-too-pleasant psychoactive reactions. While these can be frightening, especially to someone new to trying cannabis in edibles, vaporizers or pre-rolls form, it is not dangerous to your life.
If you just want to enjoy the benefits of THC, you may want to avoid consuming too much of it – yes, you can really have too much of a good thing – and concentrate on quality rather than quantity. This is when it is important to know how much THC there is in a gram of weed.

How much THC is in the products stocked at ARCannabis?Â
Let’s take a look at what we stock. Edibles are a popular product for people who are new to cannabis related products and seem like the easiest way of trying it out and seeing how you react to the effects of weed and THC. Who can resist chocolate and cannabis, or a cup of tea containing the compound? It is a great way to build the product into your life. Surprisingly, however, it is one of the easiest ones to overdo. Knowing how much THC there is in a gram of weed will help you to balance the edibles that you consume so that you get the chilled-out or high feeling without going over the top. Edibles, in general, contain around 10mg of THC, although some of the edibles on our website contain more – these are clearly marked.
Our pre-rolls come in a range of weights and potency levels and these are clearly labelled so know exactly how much THC there is in a gram of weed. These are perhaps better for the more experienced cannabis users, as some have a potency of around 15% to 20% which is great to give you a really relaxed and/or energised sensation. The same goes for our flowers and flower blends. You do not have to make a decision between quality and quantity here – they are all the very best quality cannabis products while giving you high – but not too high – levels of THC to give you the effect that you are looking for.
How much THC are you consuming?
It is thought that the average consumer of weed in the forms of plant, vape fluids, edibles and pre-rolls have 50 to 250mg of THC a day. Vapes are becoming one of the most popular ways to consume weed – they are discreet, easy to purchase, do not have the typical cannabis smell and have much less of a stigma than a joint. The good thing about these is that they deliver the cannabis hit in a concentrated and consistent way so that you know exactly how much you are consuming,
Weed in the form of flowers can degrade over time, so if you have had a pack lying around for a long time, it may well have lost a degree or two of its potency, making it a little trickier to know exactly how much THC there is in a gram of weed. This is why it is recommended to keep your flowers dry and to consume them in good time. Of course, there is no danger to consuming them later on down the line, but the hit of THC may not be quite as strong as you expected or hoped. You should also take into account that when smoked, some of the THC is lost – as much as 50 to 60 per cent in a joint.
With these variables in mind:
If you are smoking a joint with a 20% THC strain, that means that there are originally 200mg of THC per gram. If you lost around 60% to the burn, it averages around 80mg of THC in a gram of smoked weed.
How much THC your body can deal with is a very individual thing. Some people feel the effect after the tiniest amount, other, more experienced users need much greater dosages of the compound to get high.
